The NBA Benin, the Lion Bar Disclaims a Fake News Report on Appointment of Judges

The Nigerian Bar Association, Benin Branch (The Lion Bar), has disclaimed a fake news making the rounds about the appointment of Judges for the Edo State Judiciary.

The NBA Benin in a Statement endorsed by the Chairman, Prince Collins Benson Ogiegbaen A.I.C.M.C and the Secretary, Pius Idemudia Oiwoh AICMC, on the 5th of May, 2020, reads :

“The Lion Bar condemns in strong term the futile attempt by some desperate elements to drag the Lion into needless political intrigues.The Bar finds it distasteful that the faceless Political Buccaneers who issued the Statement used the revered name of the Lion Bar which is renowned for proprietary and respect for the Rule of Law to in a futile attempt to push their infantile agenda.The Lion Bar has reached out to the appropriate security apparati to unravel the source of the concocted propaganda contained
In the said fake news.The Lion Bar reiterates its confidence in the Leadership of the Edo Judiciary led by the Honourable,the Chief Judge of Edo State ,Hon. Justice Esther Amenaghamwon Edigin F.I.C.M.C. to conduct the process of the appointment of 8 additional Judges in Edo State within the prescribed Guidelines for the Appointment of Judges issued by the National Judicial Council .The Lion Bar enjoins all and sundry to disregard the said fake news and as it does not emanate from the Lion Bar and it does even meet the minimum standard of a Statement issued by the Lion.’.
