NBA Presidency: EBF Disowns Secretary

The leadership of the Eastern Bar Forum has disowned its Secretary, Hon. Sir Ray O. Akanwa over his endorsement of one of the Candidates for the office of President of the Nigerian Bar Association.

This became necessary in view of recent publications in the news media stating that the Secretary of the Forum Hon. Sir Ray Akanwa has endorsed the said Presidential Candidate where he went further to state thus” it is our collective interest to do so”

The Forum hereby states that the views expressed by Hon. Sir Ray O. Akanwa are his personal views and does not express or represent the views of the Eastern Bar Forum.

The Governor of the Eastern Bar Forum, S. Long Williams Esq. in a Press Statement stated that the Forum has not endorsed or adopted any candidate for the office of President of the Nigerian Bar Association for the forthcoming NBA elections slated for 29th & 30th July, 2020.

The Eastern Bar Forum urges all lawyers not to view, interpret or read the views of the Secretary as the views, position or representation of the Forum.

The Forum wishes to use this opportunity to inform members that in the next few days a General Webinar Meeting will be held to address some salient issues especially on the proposed amended EBF constitution amongst others.

The Forum further wishes to notify all eligible voters that apart from the offices of the General Secretary and 3rd Vice President which were zoned to the East, the other candidates from the Forum are who are vying for offices in the coming elections are;

  1. Anagor Nnamdi Raphael Financial Secretary
  2. Dr. Rapuluchukwu Nduka- Publicity Secretary
  3. Sebastian Anyia- Welfare Secretary
  4. Anne Agi- Assistant Secretary
  5. Ferdinand Naza- Assistant Publicity Secretary

The EBF Governor stated that these are competent, reliable, dedicated and trusted colleagues who have decided to put themselves forward in our collective drive to change the fortunes, face and narrative of the Nigerian Bar Association for the next two years going forward. He solicited the cooperation of all lawyers in this regard.
