African Bar Association (AfBA) asks Parties in the Russian -Ukraine War to Respect International Humanitarian Law

The African Bar Association (AfBA) ,the umbrella Body of all the Bar Associations in all the 54 Countries in Africa , has asked all parties in the raging war between Russian and Ukraine to pay heed to International Humanitarian Law and observe all Protocols in this Regard.

A Statement issued in Lagos Nigeria , on Tuesday the 1st of Match 2022 , by Douglas Ogbankwa Esq , the Director of Strategic Communications to the President of the African Bar Association, quoted the President of African Bar Association , Hannibal Uwaifo Esq. as saying among other things , that .

The African Bar Association (AfBA) is concerned about the fate of old people ,women and children in the midst of heavy bombardments and mortar fire .AfBA hereby asks Parties to this conflict to show circumspection not to hit civilian targets as enshrined in the Geneva Convention.AfBA Calls Parties to the conflict to exercise restrain and go to the Conference table as the World can not afford another devastating phenomenon that will affect adversely the World economic order , in the midst of the endemic Corona Virus .AfBA call on all requisite multilateral Organizations to provide a Humanitarian Corridor for vulnerable citizens of both countries , who may not be able to sormount the excruciating conditions pervading the avoidable warfare
