Breaking News-Ahmed Ajila,Titilayo Osagie win 2023 Lawyers Table Tennis Open( Mfon Usoro Cup)

In a hotly contested finals ,Ahmed Ajila defeated Yahaya Olarewaju to win the male category of 2023 Lawyers Table Tennis Open ( Mfon Usoro Cup).

The 2023 tournament will be the 5th time the duo will be meeting in the finals. They both met in 2018 and 2019 where Yahaya Olarewaju defeated Ahmed Ajila. They also met in 2021,2022 and now 2023 where Ahmed Ajila won. Ajila successfully defended his title.

In the female category, Titilayo Osagie beat the defending Champion ,Victoria Emeghebo . This will be the 11th time Titilayo Osagie will win the tournament since inception of the female event in 2010.

Onyeka Anionwu came third in the Male category after winning Cyril Oriabure in the third place match.

Bukola Ayisire came third after defeating Ginikachukwu Nze.

The competition had people coming from Asaba,Portharcourt, Abuja,Oyo,Lokoja,Lagos participating in the tournament.

Mr Anthony Atata,the founder of the tournament speaking to press men said that the tournament has grown remarkably since it was initiated in 2009 and has grown to become the biggest sporting event among Lawyers in Nigeria.

The occasion had the Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos Branch ,Bisi Makanjuola in attendance. Olusegun Fabunmi SAN who has won the tournament in 2010 was present at the venue and supported the prize money by Mrs Mfon Usoro which summed up to 1million Naira.

Alex Muoka,former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos and a huge supporter of the tournament was in attendance and joined in the prize giving ceremony.
Adekunle Olaofe, the Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos Sports committee was present with Moshood Abiola,a former Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos branch.

Efe Etomi,supported the female Prize with another One hundred and seventy five thousand for the female players with 100,000 going to the winner and 50,000 and 25000 going to the second and third respectively.
